Basum Tso Lake

Though it is small, Basum Tso Lake is very sacred in Eastern Tibet Nyingchi. It is reputed as the paradise of trekkers for this picturesque environment, which is surrounded by forest and snow-capped mountains.

Known as ‘Cuogao Lake’, Basum Tso literally means “greenish water” in Tibetan Language. It lies in the valley of upper reaches of Ba River, 50 kilometers to Gongbogyamda County in Nyingchi prefecture.
